Florida Hurricane Preparation Sales Tax Holiday

Today begins Florida’s 12-day hurricane preparation sales tax holiday. The state has posted a tip sheet for the sale and being prepared. The six page document does a great job of explaining the rules and even includes cell phone chargers and batteries among the expected radios, candles, lanterns, generators, tarps, coolers, storm shutters, and other items. There are price caps on each item, so refer to the sheet.
The Florida sales tax holiday ends June 1, just in time for the official start of the 2006 hurricane season.
Do take advantage of this opportunity, the tax savings is expected to save Floridians about $41 million.
